Charlotte Hawkins & Brendan Cole – Jive – 19 (4,5,5,5)
As hard as it was to see Charlotte go, she still made too many mistakes and didn’t look comfortable at all doing this dance. Which is a shame because I thought the had a lot of potential. However the dance was better than her previous and she had improved greatly since Week one.
Sad to see Charlotte go, she had improved since her first dance and was looking really promising in ballroom. Unfortunately I think the nerves got to her a couple of times. Having said that she was enjoyable to watch and you could see that she loved being on the show.
From the rehearsal, I am really worried about this jive. I love this dance but her rehearsals looked very lack luster and her hands were just flayling. I am sorry but this really was not a good dance! Her feet were all over the place and it just seemed as if she was kicking them about like she was playing football. You could tell that she couldn’t keep up with Brendan and even Brendy was attempting to slow himself down for her! She did look like she was having fun but it just wasn’t a good dance – I feel bad for her but it just didn’t work, her legs weren’t good and her arms weren’t good… I feel bad for her on this dance and also the fact that Shirley got her name wrong!
Charlotte Hawkins & Brendan Cole – Top Gun – Tango – 17 (4, 5, 4, 4)
Much better than last week but Charlotte still looks incredibly uncomfortable and not confident at all. Brendan is still having to drag her around the dance floor for some reason wether it’s because she forgets the routine due to nerves or she does hasn’t learnt the steps I don’t know but as the weeks go on she will have to try harder to stay in the competition.
I had such high hopes for this dance and it was sort of a hit and miss. Her footwork was much better than last week but I sort of lost the passion and intensity I love in this dance. Brendan choreographed an amazing dance with such a nice love story but I didn’t the conviction needed for this dance. There were a few hiccups but I don’t think it was awful! The judges were way too harsh *mainly Shirley and Bruno* and I love when Brendy sticks up for his partners! Craig was right when he said she’d improved and I think that’s all that matters!
Charlotte Hawkins & Brendan Cole – Cha-Cha – 12 (2, 4, 3, 3)
I really feel for Charlotte and I think her performance reminds everyone that what these celebrities are doing is actually really hard and quite terrifying. Unfortunately the Cha Cha wasn’t her dance and I’m not to sure about how the rest of her Latin will go, but she definitely has a lot of potential with the ballroom. She was definitely overcome with nerves and it happens and she did carry on and gave it the best she could considering. I do believe that Brendan should have taken out the floor spin if it still wasn’t working during the Friday rehearsals. But for her the dance is done now so she will be able to move forward if she gets the chance
Charlotte Hawkins and Brendan Cole – Foxtrot – 22
For a first dance I think Charlotte did very well, a couple of times she looked a bit lost and wooden, but she had a good go. I’m apprehensive about what her Latin is going to be like, I think she will lack a bit of confidence in those Styles of dances, she is definitely built for ballroom. I’m not sure how far she will go in the competition so it will be interesting to see.
The leaderboard for week 1 of Strictly Come Dancing 2017
With her tall frame and amazing dance partner *love you Brendy*. This was actually a pretty decent first dance! Even though there was a lot of faff at the start, it was all elegant and well thought through and it showed so much personality! I even thought her actual ballroom was quite good for this early on, her frame was sometimes on point and sometimes a bit out of control but he was so elegant and her footwork and back arch were so impressive that I couldn’t believe it was the first week she has danced on live TV. She seemed more comfortable out of hold, which is uncommon, but she still seemed pretty comfy in hold and, apart from a few issues which the judges said, I couldn’t have asked for a better first dance.
I’d have given her 6′s across the board but there’s always chance for improvement!
