Unfortunately, we have to say goodbye to Michelle & Giovanni
Way to soon in my opinion, one of the best dancers in the competition this series. She took each dance in her stride and delivered week on week with some amazing routines. I loved the little touches she would add to the dances and her acting in each dance was phenomenal, these two were so easy to watch and was a pleasure each week.
Michelle & Giovanni – Street Commercial – 8, 8, 8, 8 32
Michelle was amazing in this dance, she was fierce and nailed the choreography. This was such an iconic dance that you could see ment everything to her and I must also mention Giovanni in this because omg he killed it! It’s a shame the scores were so low I think it deserved a lot more that four eights.
This is the dance I was most looking forward too, I mean have you seen the outfit and the song and everything – it screams camp Blackpool. This dance was literally everything i wanted and more. From camp Giovanni at the start to Michelle just serving face, face, sass and everything – it was just the perfect Vogue dance possible. From start to end, it was the little things with Gio and Michelle did that made this dance even better from the small looks they gave each other to even a slight shrug of the shoulder. With a huge group dancers, Michelle managed to stand out and used all her experience and sass to own that dance more than anyone could’ve asked. GIRL SHANTAY YOU SLAY!
Karim and Amy – Charleston
Holy dance shoes, talk about leaving the best until the end – I mean seriously, this had to be my favourite dance of the night and I couldn’t have asked for more. This was the perfect dance for Karim because he was able to show off all this energy and personality that he hasn’t been able to show in the more subdued ballroom dances. There was swivel, speed, energy and so much content that I think Amy put in everything but the kitchen sink. I dont even know how to describe this dance without getting very very excited. It was full of so much content which was all executed perfectly and I do not have anything else to say. This was amazing and my favourite dance of the entire series!
Michelle & Giovanni – American Smooth – 9, 9, 9, 9 36
Michelle always delivers and this was no different, the beginning was fun and a good set up for the rest of the dance but I think it was a bit to long. She is always great out of hold, and looked confident and relaxed, but this week I felt that she didn’t look a comfortable in hold.
Once again, Michelle and Giovanni have knocked it out of the park. It was just the perfect dance from start to finish. From the way it started with the story of Michelle trying to get Gio’s attention to the dance itself from Michelle being cheeky and trying to lead on Gio. There was sass, swing and sway plus some absolutely amazing footwork and technical dancing. It had the traditional moves you want in a Foxtrot, with a bit of sexiness and temptation. For me, every week, I can watch these two and not have to worry about anything because they epitomise consistency and quality. It feels like I’m a broken record because I can only ever say positive things about these two. It was so good and I just can’t say anything bad!
Emma and Anton – Couple’s Choice
I dont know who loved this dance more: Anton or Emma? I mean Anton was in his camp element and I was living for it. You know what, this was a really good dance for Emma. I’m normally reluctant to praise these couples choice dances because it’s not Strictly, but it gives the celebs a chance to show us that they can dance. It was cheeky, saucy and combined everything that we love from musicals: the fossy, sassy and almost understated style. We saw Emma’s personality shine in this dance and I was Uber impressed. More couple’s should do musicals because its an underrated art form.
Saffron and AJ – Waltz
This was worlds away from last weeks dance and absolutely amazing. It was soft, technical and full of emotion. It was almost beautiful in an understated way from the set to the outfit to the music. Sometimes, an amazing song really makes advance really special. I’m normally a critic of Saffron because the judges do sometimes favour them. However, they deserved this and you can see that she’s working hard and taking on all the comments the judges have.
Kelvin and Oti – Salsa
Holy cannoli, what a dance. I mean I knew Kelvin had hips to die for, but by god I think he upped his game. Down to Oti’s choreography, this really showed the best of Kelvin in every single way and it had everything but the kitchen sink in it. There were amazing lifts, amazing hips and armography to die for. Sometimes, I just forget that kelvin isn’t a Latin sensation because he takes to it so naturally. He also works perfectly in harmony with Oti and together they really create magic. Kelvin is so natural and everything he does seems effortless. I always love watching Kelvin and this dance was no exception.
This dance was Passionate, dramatic and intense and Michelle and Giovanni created such an atmosphere together with their chemistry. Such a cleverly created routine by giovanni and loved the concept, I did agree with Bruno amd Craig that she needed to accentuated more and exaggerated her shaping.
What a change from last week? Honestly, is there anything Karim can’t do? From the first beats of the music, Karim had this charisma and personality that was so smooth and perfect for this kind of dance, like he was a smooth operator! Apart from him just being adorable and like just so handsome, i can’t even begin to say how good he was technically. The steps were flawless, the frame was strong and the flair of the dance was just amazing, even the snake detail from the body contact to the swing and sway. Karim couldn’t have done this without Amy who consistently produces amazing choreography with a mix of solo and sections in continuous hold. This along with their amazing partnership just made for an amazing dance.
Michelle and Giovanni – Paso Doble
This was a very brave move from Giovanni from the choreography to the whole feel of the dance. It may not have been my favourite dance of Michelle, but by god it was still amazing. By wearing the skirt and then removing it to dance in pants, not only showed that Michelle was capable of doing the skirt-ography, but also this strength to it where it felt like they were both fighting each other. It was very different from the usual male/female dynamic with both of them taking this male-esque stance and it worked perfectly and was so empowering. It had all the basics done beautifully and she had these amazing arms and shaping from start to finish. It was so simple but massively effective and personified who Michelle is as a person and her partnership with Gio.
Emma and Aljaz- Samba
Samba is one of the hardest dances of all time and completely different from Emma’s personality. I didn’t know what to expect to start with and I was slightly worried. After the dance, i was slightly more confused than anything. It had all the basics in there and surprisingly, there was a lot of sass and great musicality from her from start to finish with a lot of energy. However, it just seemed all a bit elegant which is bizarre to say in a bad way. Normally you always want someone to be elegant, but not for this dance. Here, you want dirt and sharpness rather than being ladylike. Luckily for Emma, her personality was on show here and it really made the dance so easy to watch. I think it was the pace of music and the elegance that put me slightly on edge, but she did so well considering how hard that dance is and the type of person Emma is.
Dance of the Week Halloween special is Michelle & Giovanni with their Foxtrot
This dance was near on perfect which reflected with the scores they received. Brilliant routine, with so much content and made to look effortless. What a week for these two, let’s hope that it continues.
Michelle always has a good top line and head placement, they had great storytelling as well. The fleckle at the end was amazing, brilliant content with amazing choreography from Giovanni. Execution was amazing, and really was a near perfect dance, I have nothing bad to say about it.
Michelle looked stunning in this dress, it was sensual but not that it was off putting which was so lovely to watch as the rumba can sometimes be a bit cringey this was not cringey at all, brilliant storytelling between the two of them. For me it did feel a bit stop and start like there not a lot of flow and like craig said not a continuous movement.
