The best dance off goes to Saffron & AJ and Karim & Amy

Their was so much emotion during this dance off, everyone’s complete shock at Karim being in it and Saffron’s determination to stay in the competition. I picked this as the best dance off because both couples improved from their first performance and the tension was so high. Karim was always going to win in a dance off no matter who he was against ( except Kelvin maybe) but after the history of who the judges were picking t go home in the past on this series who knew what was going to happen.

The Award for best musicals week dance goes to Karim & Amy for their Jive

This was outstanding, so full of energy and packed with content that was executed to the highest standard throughout. They looked like they were having so much fun and the choreography from Amy was incredible, this song is so big that being able to match it with energy and content I a task and yet Karim & Amy made it look easy.

The award for best dance goes to Karim & Amy for the Quickstep in Week 7

This to me is the quickstep of all quicksteps that Strictly has ever produced, the way in which Karim & Amy danced this both times was just sublime. So traditional, clean and classy and yet with that touch of Karim charm that I grew to real,y really love. Everything came together for them which is why I think it was the best dance this year.

The first Strictly Award of 2019 goes to Karim Zeroual for Best Celebrity dancer

The reason I chose Karim as the best celebrity dancer was not just because he is an incredible dancer and from Week one he really caught my eye, but he also had a lot of ups and downs during the final from being the first to score 40 to being in the dance off twice. There were a lot of incredible celebrities this year and the were a few to pick from for this award, but I think Karim really stood out this seires for me.

Karim & Amy – Showdance – 9, 10, 10, 10 39

What a fabulous showdance from Karim & Amy, so much emotion was brought in that dance. Everything came together the song, the costume, the set to make it one of Karim’s best dances of the series. He truly is a fantastic and talented dancer who I can see going on to do some great things after the show.

So, that’s it – the couples have done all they can and now it’s up to the public! Who does everyone want to win?

Couples Choice

Karim and Amy – Jive

If i loved it the first time, I loved it even more this time without the backing dancers to distract me. It was full of energy, sass and just the right amount of campiness. There is nothing I can say now that hasn’t been said before. The choreography was so fast, so complicated and full of personality that it was everything I could ever want. If I shut my eyes and didnt know I was watching Strictly, I would think I had just turned on Hairspray because he not only epitomised the dance, but also the era and the song and everything Amy gives him. That dance is not easy and he made everything look so effortless from the kicks, flicks and those little nudges and nods that just made everything come together. I would happily watch this dance again and again and again.

Emma and Anton – Viennese Waltz

This was definitely miles better than the first time she did the dance and it really shows how much she has improved not only with her technique but with her confidence and personality. Like always, she had an amazing frame and glided across the floor with such elegance and poise. The only thing was that there may be too much swing and sway for this dance, but it did just seem to work with the whole story. I cant stop saying how good she is at acting these stories and forming a connection with Anton to make us not only watch, but live the performance.

Kelvin and Oti – Samba

Ending Kelvin’s Strictly journey with the dance that stayed it couldn’t have been a better way to finish the show. It was this dance when we realised that this substitute was really something special. Also, if possible, its got almost a hundred times better than the first time and it is one of the best sambas I have ever seen (not including Danny Mac’s which maybe proves that Samba is for Queen Oti). This dance had everything it should from the rhythm, fluidity and I cannot forget those IPS! It was Kelvin’s ability to let himself go and combine masculinity and femininity to create the perfect dance. I can also not to Sri how much this is all down to the partnership between the two – it is magical…

Showdance

Karim and Amy

As expected, that was probably such a cute dance and a perfect way to showcase his Strictly journey. Even though it didnt have the usual mix of techniques, it showcased his talent to a tee and embodied who he is. He is technically beautiful with amazing lines, beautiful expressions of the body and just a natural flair and rhythm in his body. Combining this with the story telling and raw emotion he has whenever he dances, just made it perfect. I cant forget to mention Amy who has made a real dancer out of Karim and giving him choreography that shows him off in the best way possible. It was honest, pure and everything just came together perfectly from the dance, the outfits, the song and the set. It was so subtle and understated, but sometimes they are the best.

Emma and Anton

Hearing the music and the dance, it should have been an amazing dance and the choreography was amazing. However, I couldn’t not see the amount of times where they were literally: out of time. For most of it, it was really nice to watch and the way she looked and oozed personality really helped the dance. It combined everything that Anton and Emma represent from elegance, class and sophistication. It does upset me that she messed up quite a lot on the timing and syncopation and I cannot ignore that. It was good, but not what I expect from a final showdance.

Kelvin and Oti

Except maybe one or two times when he nearly stumbled, this was what I love from a showdance – an amalgamation of all the dances he’s good at. We saw Tango, jive, charleston, Lindy and thats just to name a few. It just combined everything I love about Kelvin from the ability to dance at such a quick speed, the jam packed content and those hips. As always, Oti knows how to bring the best out of Kelvin and this choreography did that so well. I always love seeing how much people improve over the series and seeing all of these dances and how much he’s improved, it’s crazy for me to think that Kelvin wasn’t even meant to be in the competition to start with. Apart from the amazing dancing, he just has this personality and way about him that draws you in. It was so good!

Judges Choice

Karim and Amy – Quickstep

A usual, and like before, this dance never ceases to amaze me – it scares me how hard it is to know who the pro and who the celebrity is. As always, this dance had perfect footwork, amazing frame and just looked effortless from start to the end. What makes this stand out is those little things he does that oozes his personality from a slight shoulder shrug to the little wink or look on his face. Karim is a natural charmer and it just makes this dance even more exciting to watch. That combined with how well he works with Amy just makes this the perfect dance for the perfect couple with an amazing song and concept. The two of them look like you could just pick them out of the 1920s in those bright red suits and puffy skirt. It was as enjoyable, if not more, than the last time they did it.

Emma and Anton – Charleston

I did enjoy watching this dance the first time and I enjoyed it again. It was definitely the strongest dance Emma has done and suits her personality to a tee. She had the swivel, the personality and charm that this dance needs and it was amazing choreography! Sometimes i didnt think her and Anton were in perfect sync with each other and something seemed to be missing. However, she epitomises what the dance is meant to be and she had this little charm that makes a Charleston what it is. Everything from the dance to the song to the outfit just works and it perfect for the final. The judges did a great service to Emma for picking this dance for her.

Kelvin and Oti – Rumba

I was a bit disappointed when the judges picked this dance, because Kelvins had so many amazing dances. However, out of every Rumba, this is one that I always enjoy watching and today was no exception. It’s one of the hardest dances for a male, but Kelvin seemed to do it so effortlessly. From the way he moves with Oti across the floor to the technical aspects: the finger placements, the steps, the hips and everything. Combining that’s with the emotion and storytelling he does in every dance, it just works perfectly. Oti and Kelvin have this partnership unlike any other and they work as one moving their bodies as if they’ve known each other their whole lives. It was subtle, masculine and just beautiful. Unlike any rumba I’ve ever seen.

It’s Strictly final time!!!!
