Dances – Part 1

Dr Ranj and Janette – American Smooth

Well isn’t Dr Ranj one of the cutest people in the world and this was so much better than his last ballroom dance. Obviously he was full of smiles but I thought his footwork was pretty good and I didn’t see as many issues with his top line and posture compared to the other dances. I loved the choreography from the proper American Smooth content to the solo sections with so much charisma and personality! This dance was so infectious and I just wanted to smile all the way through because it was so adorable.

Lauren and AJ – Couples Choice (Contemporary)

Isn’t this all a bit different and exciting? I don’t know how I feel about this change yet but it will be exciting to see what the couples do, in particular how they adapt to this kind of dance – especially contemporary which is so hard. To be fair to Lauren, she did try her best and it is such a hard style to do. You can tell that she was putting emotion into it but I just saw a few issues which made not really connect to it or believe it, like the flat feel when she was in the air. I mean it just wasn’t as elegant as I wanted it to be and it all felt a bit forced and rigid… she did try but it is so hard!

Graemme and Oti – Tango

God damn, I am surprised at how awesome this was! From this cheeky and adorable guy, we got this sexy and sultry man in such a passionate and ferocious dance that had me on the edge of my seat! Queen Oti struck again with the choreography and Graemme was technically so much better than normal (great timing, footwork and frame) and emotionally into this dance so much and I loved watching it so much. I disagree with Craig because I thought there was tons of passion and connection between the two of them, I mean that start with the rose was so sexy and I prefer my tangos fierce and intense to sexual anyday!

Graeme & Oti – Jive – ( 5 , 7 , 7 , 7 ) 26

What a Samba from Graeme, with fantastic choreography from Oti. Fun and cheeky Graeme has really embraced the Strictly experience and I love him for that. However, the Samba wasn’t the cleanest and I’m hoping he can keep improving each week.

Hey guys, before the last of the dances, I want to say that I’m going to start making GIFs again from tomorrow and I hope you love them ❤️

Dances – Part 3

Dr Ranj and Janette – Paso Doble

I am actually quite surprised how good Ranj was this week, especially for someone so smiley and adorable. He had this tough and quite aggressive stance – a little camp but a nice amount of masculinity to balance it out. There was beautiful shaping in the arms, focus in the eyes and his footwork and strength is his core on the knee work was so nice to see and he’s definitely improving. He also looks fabulous.

Kate and Aljaz – Samba

Although it may have not been as good as her other dances, the samba is such a hard dance and I loved watching it which is the main thing. She had such rhythm and let go of all her inhibitions and that’s really what this dance is all about! I saw rolls galore and even though the judges have been harsh, I really enjoyed it and she’s so smiley and that’s all that matters. It does upset me how harsh Shirley was compared to other people and not even picking up on positives.

Graemme and Oti – Jive

Even though it was a bit flat footed at some points, it was another dance from Graemme that was just so fun to watch. He’s got so much energy and I didn’t see his energy falter once as he flew across the floor and kept up with Oti both in terms of steps and musically – like the dance was just infectious and I just love watching the two of them dance together. I don’t know if the judges are just being mean because I thought it was mega awesome.

Graeme & Oti – Spiderman – Charleston – (7, 8, 8, 8) 31

A very entertaining dance from Graeme and a fun and up beat Charleston. I was very happy to see that he got the swivel and had very clear elements of Charleston elements whilst still keeping the Spider-Man theme as well.

Dances Part 3

Graemme and Oti – Charleston

After my hatred for the judges comments last week, I can’t see how they couldnt love this! From the start he came down on the web, it was just full power and that didnt mean it lacked in technique! There was attempted swivel throughout, he was cheeky and that energy was 100% and I just loved watching them. Oti and Graemme work so nicely together and I just love watching them each week! The chemistry and trust between the two of them is pure perfection and it helped them in the lifts which blew my mind!

Ashley and Pasha – Salsa

I’m not going to lie: this dance was great! I dont know, I just never feel excited because I know her dance background and, even though people say they’re different, it always helps especially in Latin.

Katie and Gorka – Foxtrot

What a transformation from vixen to sweet and love struck character! You know what, it was such a sweet dance and they looked genuinely in love and it was so adorable! I can’t wait to see Katie improve week after week and she’s looking a lot more confident

Graeme & Oti – American Smooth ( 3, 5, 3, 4 ) 15

A nice dance from Graeme, however I did feel like he was leaning over Oti a bit too much and I think that has to do with their height difference, hopefully that can be improved. Some nice hand placements and moves and again wonderful choreography from Oti.

Dances Part 1

Stacey and Kevin – Cha  Cha

I can definitely tell that this wasn’t Stacey’s dance! She did attempt some of that straight leg action and she did seem to be having a great time with the energy but it just didn’t connect with me. It seemed a bit messy at the start and I saw virtually no straight leg and then, as we got into the main bit, although they did the right steps, it did seem slightly messy and there were just times where she didn’t seem to know what to do, like the body rolls looked very hesitant. I also lacked the hip action that we saw in Dr Ranj’s dance and it just seemed all too safe and she just needed to let go and enjoy it!

Charles and Karen – Quickstep

After last week’s smooth and seductive dance, it’ll be nice to see how Charles does in a more controlled and disciplined dance. So, apart from a bit of gapping and some timing issues, I thought it was a quintessential quickstep with smoothness and a great attempt at this solid top line which meant that he glided across the floor with ease… and don’t make me mention those slips which was just something to behold! It’s a shame about the timing because I loved it!

Katie and Gorka – Paso Doble

I don’t know if it’s the choreography or the song but I just didn’t like this dance. I have to applaud Katie for her passion and commitment to the dance but apart from that and some nice attempts at shaping, it just all seemed a bit stompy and discombobulated. I didn’t think this was her dance but she looked like she enjoyed it and it was nice to see a different side to her!

Graemme and Oti – American Smooth

You know what, Graemme is becoming one of my favourites. You can definitely see that Oti has been working on his top line because, from what I could see, it was top notch man and he just looked like he was having a great time. Although the judges didn’t like the fusion and stuff, I liked this different kind of dance and with the song, it all fitted perfectly and I think the judges are just hating on Oti’s choreography. I don’t know why they didn’t like it, I loved it and could watch it all day! BOO YOU JUDGES 🙁

Graeme & Oti – Samba ( 5, 6, 6, 5 ) 22

What fun first dance from Graeme & Oti, a flying bat and a dance to the cricket theme tune. He threw himself into that dance, when most men would have shone away from the dance especially in Week 1, so props to him for that. I’m looking forward to see how he gets on in the coming weeks.
